Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a ten day long Hindu festival which honors the birthday of the elephant-headed God Ganesh. It is celebrated on September 10th in 2021. To the Hindus, God Ganesh is a symbol of good fortune, wisdom, wealth and new beginnings. Modak or dumplings made of rice or flour stuffed with jaggery, coconuts and dry fruits are eaten as part of the celebrations.
