Indian Festivals – Raksha Bandhan
Many Hindus in India celebrate the brother-sister bond in an annual festival know as Raksha Bandhan. On this day girls ceremoniously tie a rakhi or thread, made of cotton or silk on her brother’s right wrist. The rakhi or thread symbolises affection, love and protection from harm. In return a brother gives a gift or cash to his sister and promise to look out for her in the year ahead. Culture Buff Indian Values interactive games leverage visual stories to teach foreign students, expatriates, study abroad and work travel program participants about Indian values.
