British Tradition – Royal Swan Upping

Swan upping is an annual ceremony in England in which mute swans on the River Thames are rounded up, caught, ringed, and then released. The historic ceremony dates all the way back to the 12th century, when the English Crown first claimed ownership of all mute swans. Today, the Queen retains the right to claim ownership of any unmarked mute swan swimming on the Thames. Swan Upping 2022 will commence on Monday 18th July 2022 and finish on Friday 22nd July.   Culture Buff British Values games teach British values via culture scenarios from everyday life and history.  Get FREE INTERACTIVE GAMES on British values, traditions and culture at http://www.culturebuffgames.com
